An employee died after an explosion and fire at Boulder Scientific Co., a chemical manufacturing plant in Mead.

Three other people were sent to the hospital with non- life-threatening injuries.
Boulder police were searching Friday for a couple who may have attacked a woman this week with a baseball bat, hitting her in the head. The woman was taken Tuesday night to Boulder Community Hospital, where she was treated for serious head injuries, police said.
The attack occurred about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday at an apartment building near 34th Street and O'Neal Parkway, police said. The 34-year-old victim told police she was assaulted after she confronted a group of people involved in a car sale in front of her apartment.
Anyone with information about the attack should call detectives at 303-441-3330.

The Denver man was busted for leaving his girlfriend's hungry toddler locked in a parked car while he hit a Glendale strip club.

Mountain View firefighters this morning extinguished a fire after an explosion at Boulder Scientific Co. in Mead in western Weld County.
One employee was injured and flown by helicopter to an area hospital, Mountain View deputy chief Steve Pischke said. "We don't know the extent of his injuries.

Tragedy narrowly averted for Arvada dumpster napper
A man who curled up to sleep in a big trash compactor in Arvada last night got a scary wake-up call when a worker hit the squeeze switch.
Luckily, the Colorado Cinemas Olde Town 14 employee "heard someone yelling from inside the dumpster and so she stopped the compactor," said Arvada Police Commander Kathy Foos.
"She started checking inside the dumpster and she could see there was certainly someone in there. So she called 911."
